Skate or die...
Here is the first time I've ever had to inspect a skate bowl, not that I had to really, as it's not a habitable structure, it doesn't really come under the control of Building Control, but I cast my professional eye over it, and my skater eye too, and to be honest, it's the most boring bowl I've ever seen, the bowl itself is constructed off site, in 6 pieces, and fixed together, with drainage at the bottom, and a concrete skirting around the edges. This bowl forms part of a new sports park being constructed, which includes an all weather hard surface football pitch and an internal climbing wall.
The building itself will be covered in grass, with children slides over the peak of the building. This is the second grass covered building I've done recently, and again the system used is a Bauder Roof, this is a layer of water resistant membrane with a sandwich of insulation, and a a further layer of insulation with a clay covering, and then the grass.
One of the questions here, is whether the slope of the roof is too steep to maintain a grass covering, only time will tell.
