Me, Myself and My Manager

This week I was sent on a management training course. With my manager. Now, the way I see it, it was a real slap in the face for him to have to attend an introduction to management when he's been managing staff for ten years, or it says something about his ability.

To be honest, I was taken aback by his openness and honesty on the course, although I did find it uncomfortable to go through some of the exercises with him present - I can't really go to town on 'What makes a bad manager' when he's sitting on the other side of the table!

Regardless of all that, I really enjoyed myself, I don't think I learned anything new, just new ways of thinking, which I suppose is what the course was designed for, also I got to speak to the departmental head, who said, the course is no guarantee that any of us will ever actually be managing staff ( I had to glance sideways at my cringing manager at that one!)

OK - back to the real bricks and mortar - Chumleigh Gardens is one of the remaining Victorian buildings in Burgess Park, a Park created in the 1960's, by demolishing the surrounding Victorian terraced houses - not any major bomb damaged area - more a town planner damaged area - and this unique building, and it's grounds were kept as council property. More recently the building has been converted into a Cafe, and a World Garden, with different areas, such as ponds, formal, and wild gardens. The buildings house some training rooms, the Park Rangers (Smarter than the average bear, boo-boo), and a new nursery school, which I'll show some photo's of soon.
